Tell me about yourself!

Hello, nice to meet you! I'm Isaac. I'm a founding engineer at LegalOS (YC W26), and I study applied math at USC.

What are you doing now?

LegalOS (YC W26)Founding Software Engineer · San Francisco · 2026 – present

I'm currently building legal-tech software from the ground up. I was the first technical hire at an AI-native immigration law firm, helping build the product end to end.

I'm wearing multiple hats, mainly AI engineering and UI/UX, but most importantly learning the ins and outs of building a startup. Hit us up if you need a work visa!

What is your past work experience?

JPMorgan Chase & Co.Data Science Intern · Columbus · Summer 2026

I used causal inference to measure how new branch openings cannibalize sales at nearby branches, across 5,000+ locations and 10M+ rows of time-series data.

It was a breath of fresh air to work on a non-ML problem within data science, but learning econometrics always makes you wish you could just do an A/B test.

I also worked on improving Text2SQL applications for Zelle complaint insights in Snowflake and Databricks.

I'm first authoring a paper on wildfire spread forecasting: a conditional flow-matching model that predicts 24-hour fire growth with calibrated uncertainty, trained on weather and terrain data.

Throwing a neural net at the problem didn't work, so we did some cool data augmentations and transformations, as well as making the model autoregressive, to get it to perform decently.

The preprint is up on arXiv here.

At a small hedge fund, I built an alternative SPXW options-data pipeline that cut vendor costs by $2k/mo and ran 4x faster, working with the head of research.

I met the most amazing mentor, got an introduction to options theory, and dabbled in asynchronous programming.

What about your education?

University of Southern CaliforniaStarted 2024 · Los Angeles

I'm studying for a B.S. in Applied & Computational Mathematics, with a minor in CS. I'm currently on a leave of absence.

What do you do for fun?

Speedcubing! My unofficial 3×3 personal bests are a 5.31 single and a 7.51 average of 5.

I first started cubing when I was 11, but it has been on and off. Official results are on my WCA profile.

That's the scramble, if you're a fellow cuber. There were no skips, just really easy look ahead.

I also do Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Still a white belt, but part of me doesn't want to be a blue belt because I heard that's when people stop going easy.

My favorite submissions are the arm triangle and rear naked choke. I also love butterfly sweeps and ankle picks.

Anything else you want to show me?

I wrote up a short proof about the Rubik's cube!

A simple yet beautiful intersection of the Rubik's cube and mathProving that repeating any sequence of moves on a solved cube eventually solves it again

And I'm always happy to have a genuine conversation, so feel free to reach out at isaac@legalos.ai. I'm also on GitHub and LinkedIn.

Thanks, Isaac!
